  1. @gunfiremessiah Yes, it is great to have this Peter Roebuck talk here. What a passionate and impeccable public speaker.

  2. Thank you India Today for this talk. Great to be able to watch Peter Roebuck speak. He was one of the greatest writers and speakers about cricket. Peter Roebuck comes on at 8:00

  3. Just had to hear Peter Roebucks voice for one last time. Pity about the idiot comments. Thanks indiatoday

  4. Questions will be raised now that its been confirmed he took his own life after beng questioned by the SA Police after an altercation in the hotel he was staying at in Newlands – Cape Town. One of the most knowlegeable men in the game of cricket out side of the now retired Ritchie Benaud.

  5. @ OldBuckers Quite a select group you are part of it seems, you and the. pro-colonial Australians. Nevertheless, the Belgians invented cricket and everyone else plays it better than England these days so, in the spirit of Peter Roebuck…Go jump.

  6. Please don’t bother with a response: I have changed my settings so that I do not have to hear any of your bitter anti-colonial rantings. Although, I am guessing you are of Anglo-Saxon descent, so this is certainly not an atypical response of many ‘chip-on-the-shoulder’ Antipodeans.

  7. And what identity might that be that they have so blessed the cricket-playing world with? Some of the most un-ingratiating behaviour ever seen on a cricket field has been purveyed by australians. Do you mean Chappell pea-rolling to the kiwi’s (CHEATING); Ponting (as captain) finger-jabbing & vilifying umpires on the field and threatening to take players off, as well as claiming dodgy ‘catches’; Or perhaps Lillee? Using an aluminium bat and refusing to leave the field at the waca? ETC ETC…..

  8. I would rather chew cardboard smeared with washing detergent than sit through another speech my adam gilchrist

  9. @OldBuckers typical self-righteous Englishman clouded by self-importance at every turn in a desperate attempt to reassert dominion over the empire, even over a dead man’s body. What you have said below is balls. Roebuck is saying that Australia led the way in creating an identity in cricket which was distinctly australian and other nations have followed suit in creating cricket in their own image, not as an English game (or Flemish image if we must go back to the origins of the game).

  11. @AdamAus85 Are you kidding? Listen to him talking at 13:30 onwards…… An absolute diatribe of how poorly the Australians have always mis-understood (and always will) the Colonial origins and ethos of the game, compared to the other colonised nations who embraced the game as a way of life. Australia’s “Win at all costs”, “To hell with the snobby establishment” is the polar opposite of that……. Ambassador for Australia?? He was English, and thoroughly proud of it…..

  12. Just heard the tragic news the Peter Roebuck has passed away at his hotel in Newlands Cape Town last night. You were such and euridite and entertaining commentator. R.I.P. Peter you you will be sadly missed from the commentary box
